How I do café reviews here.
Every review is a real visit
I don’t review a café I haven’t been to, and I publish the date I went. Nothing here gets written off a website, a menu photo, or somebody else’s review.
I pay for my own drinks
Full price, every time. If a visit ever gets comped or a café sets it up for me, I’ll say so in the review itself.
Same criteria every time
Atmosphere, coffee, service, menu, whether you can actually work there, and price range. In that order, for every café. One visit is a snapshot and I’ll say that too.
No scores
There’s no rating out of ten. Give people a number and they argue with the number instead of reading why. It also pretends I know more than one visit can tell me. The writing carries the verdict.
Conflicts
I work for Black Rifle Coffee Company. If a café or roaster is connected to them, I’ll name that in the review. More in the disclosure.
If I get it wrong
Think a review has a fact wrong? Tell me. I’ll check it, and fix it if you’re right.
